For the last year, Tales from the Labyrinth has mostly lived in words.
Stories. Poems. Fairy tales. Folklore.
And, increasingly, a truly unreasonable number of songs.
But somewhere along the way, I started wondering what it would be like if the Labyrinth became a place you could actually visit.
Well...
Sort of.
She's my little animated storyteller, and this is the beginning of something I've been wanting to experiment with for a while.
I want to start bringing more of my stories and songs to life: reading fiction aloud, sharing the mythology and folklore behind my work, making playlists for the ridiculous number of songs I keep writing, and occasionally just inviting you to curl up somewhere comfortable and listen.
Not a studio.
Not me talking at a camera.
Naturally, I needed a familiar.
Because of course there is.
I've created a YouTube channel for Tales from the Labyrinth, where I'll collect the videos and experiment with longer Storytimes, songs, folklore, and whatever other strange things wander out of my imagination.
But I don't want the Labyrinth's new video side to live somewhere else entirely.
Some videos may accompany stories. Some might be little introductions or behind-the-scenes rambles. Some might be performances of songs you've first encountered as lyrics here. And some may simply be an excuse for us to spend a little time together in the library.
I may do live readings or musical jam sessions.
I'm not entirely sure what this will become yet.
And honestly?
That's part of why I'm excited.
Tales from the Labyrinth began as a place for me to tell stories.
Then somehow it became stories and poems and folklore and music and community and challenges and collaborations and cats...
So perhaps this is simply the next corridor.
I'm going to see where it leads.
You are, as always, invited to wander with me.
Bring a cup of tea.
I'll bring the stories.
And the songs.
…And the mothcat.
