DSA in Hostile Terriroty

Anyone who’s willing to call Trump a pedo on Fox News has the right idea as far as we’re concerned. But there are many more reasons to be excited about Oliver Larkin, who’s running against Moskowitz in Florida’s 25th district. For a very special episode (#290 of KK&F), Oliver is joining the show to talk about his visionary campaign to rep South Florida as a democratic socialist (and specifically a member of DSA) in Congress! As the latest installment of our conversations with inspiring progressives running for office, our conversation with Oliver starts by getting to know him as a candidate, learning about his commitments to the changes working-class people in his community want to see, and then talking about his path to Congress.

Oliver is a union organizer as well as a DSA member, so he has the strong ties to his community that it will fake to build trust, get the word out, and bring the interests of that community all the way to D.C. On his site, he points to “a South Florida you can afford” as the core ethos and end goal of his campaign. In the state where Trump has built “Alligator Alcatraz,” Oliver is running to abolish and prosecute ICE, and to legislate against a militarized immigration enforcement system. Meanwhile, Oliver strongly supports Medicare for All - a main bellwether for lefty candidates as it has been for years, but now more likely than ever to win support. As we saw in Abdul El-Saved’s victory in Detroit, Americans literally can’t live without universal healthcare, and they’ve reached a breaking point with centrists and conservatives who want to keep it from them.
