Meanwhile, at Baapolis, Houdini was searching for clues with maximum seriousness. He found a trail of hoof prints, but they didn’t look like sheep’s prints. Sheep hooves were more angular, and smaller to be sure. Though that was his haunch, he wanted to make certain, being the best investigator that he saw himself to be.
“Put your hoof here.” Houdini directed Kopernicus. And so Kopernicus, still a bit groggy and confused, aligned his feet in the same direction as the muddy large hoof prints on the meadow. Diligently, he stepped into each impression as the animal in question would have walked.
Womp, Thump, Tomp, and Grump. Kopernicus made his way all the way through till there were no more tracks. At the end of it, he was staring over a vertical cliff!
Houdini froze. His acute cat eye spotted downtrodden feathers that matched the patterns of Mrs. Dominique. He also caught the scent of pungent crushed onions. “Alas! This is no predator. A bull, a bull fell onto her!” the feline exclaimed, explaining further that the bull crushed her.
He fathomed there was some kind of dispute, perhaps a duel, perhaps even some fierce bull wrestling.
“Bull wrestling? Is that different from ramming?” Kopernicus asked out of genuine curiosity.
“Ohhh very different. Equally deadly. But different.” Houdini touched upon his perspective of it.
Scarlett caught the word “deadly” ringing in her small ears. She was startled and ran back to the group. “What is going on?!”
In a matter-of-fact, chief-in-command, calm yet urgent, alarmed yet assured, kind of tone, Houdini enunciated, “Scarlett, we must run.”
As the cat hurried the herd to start running, to run as fast as they could, Kopernicus chimed in his told-ya-so bleat, “Seee?! Ye never know when a power nap comes in handy!”
And so they hopped on Kopernicus’ back. With his power napped stamina, he took them at full speed back to Baapolis palace.
