as someone who has been knitting for going-on twelve years now, i don’t often like to think about how much money i’ve sunk into supplies over the last decade. my first few years of knitting were defined by a certain type of creativity that i’m not sure i’ll ever be able to re-capture: the ingenuity inspired by being a broke college student. i used whatever i could, sometimes opting for chopsticks in place of double-pointed needles until i got my biweekly paycheck from the university’s library. i budgeted some of my semesterly printing fund to print patterns and heavily relied on ravelry’s search filters to find free projects to make. i used whatever type of yarn i could get my hands on – not stepping foot into a yarn store until nearly three years into my knitting journey.
but it was this thinking and drive, inspired purely by the love of the craft versus the fun accessories that came along with it, that allowed me to fall head-over-heels in love with knitting. now, over ten years late…
