On July 7, 2025, I’ll be 32 years old and whew… we are getting deep into these 30s now.
My 20s felt like a chaotic experiment: big dreams, questionable decisions, and baby steps disguised as progress. But your 30s? That’s when your body starts turning against you, your brain refuses to let you ignore your feelings, and suddenly everyone around you is either deeply single, planning a wedding, raising kids, or on a flight every other week.
I find myself somewhere in the middle: living a fun, single life, showing up for my people, and trying to celebrate my own milestones too.
The 30s come with this unspoken pressure to “make your mark,” but also… they’re still fun. There’s more money, better judgment, and a low-key IDGAF attitude that feels grounding in ways I didn’t expect.
1. Take care of your body. Not because you want to, but because your back will betray you otherwise.
2. The life of your dreams won’t just fall into your lap. You build it, manifest it, will it into happening and yes, that requires actual work.
3. Move your body. Like… forreal. Your knees are not the same as they were at 22.
4. Stop waiting on people to do (insert activity) with you. Otherwise, you’ll be waiting forever. Start getting comfortable being by yourself.
5. Some of your family members are mentally unwell and that’s not shade, it’s reality. Recognizing that helps you release expectations and find compassion.
6. You may not always know why you feel how you feel. But honor the feeling anyway.
7. When overwhelmed, do the first thing on your list. Start there.
8. Your understanding of love evolves. Honor every version of it each taught you something.
9. Detours don’t make you a bad person.
10. The best leaders are their authentic selves.
11. Don’t forget to water the relationships with the people who actually show up for you.
12. Watching your parents age? No one prepped us for that. Talk to your friends about it—we're all facing it together.
13. Autopay your life. Less stress, fewer late fees.
14. Buy the thing. Take the trip. Eat the meal.
15. At this rate some of us might be the second wife or the stepmama. Let’s normalize different love stories.
16. One friend group is cute. Multiple friend groups? Superior life experience.
17. Go on the date. Even if it’s bad, you’ll have a story.
18. Stop taking yourself so seriously. You’re grown, but you still deserve joy.
19. Put the sugar down. Your body said so.
20. Everyone gets one vice in life. Choose yours wisely.
21. If you’re going to scroll, at least learn something. Curate your feed, block the things that rot your mind.
22. Your thoughts and opinions deserve space. Stop shrinking.
23. Support media. Buy the book, the album, the ticket.
24. Geek out about your interests. It makes you unique.
25. You don’t need another drink. x 2.
26. Trust your gut your intutition is usually right.
27. Be patient. Sometimes clarity comes when you stop obsessing.
28. Facts and opinions? Not the same. Move accordingly.
29. Is he actually cute… or are you just horny? Be honest. I’ll wait.
30. Dating multiple people doesn’t make you a “hoe.” It makes you time efficient. In your 30s you realize dating one person every other month is going to slow your potential.
31. Turn your brain off sometimes. You deserve peace.
32. Schedule the things you hate doing. Set timers. Read instructions. Grown-up hacks.
