On the ball and updating in the first week of the month? Who am I?!
I am freshly returned from my yoga retreat in Nicaragua and I am feeling the lows as I readjust to the temperature and the cadence of everyday life. Luckily I am surrounded by pretty incredible people who have been absolutely crucial in helping remind me that I am loved, that I was missed and that I can be happy even when not doing yoga, surfing, or frolicking in the jungle.
I had one week in paradise at the end of February, on my yoga retreat with Modo Yoga Orleans. at Verdad Hotel in Nicaragua. Warm weather, excursions, campfires, baby sea turtles, volcanoes, surfing and of course, lots and lots of yoga.
One tradition I started a few years ago is to have an art / junk journal dedicated to my trip. This book ends up holding journal pages, sketches, scraps of paper from food, ticket stubs, boarding passes, and lots of doodles. It becomes a memory from the trip but also my very best souvenir.
The only pages I omitted were the pages that were solid text/writing without any artwork. I didn’t write anything too personal throughout the book, it was not used as an emotional deep dive (I had my fellow yogis to go over all my messy thoughts and emotions with <3) more like a record of what we did and where we were.

Our next Artawa artist meetup is TOMORROW, Sunday March 8th at the Ottawa Art Gallery, from 2:30-5pm. Remember to bring your own supplies and projects to work on. We will be unveiling our group exhibition show theme and taking reservations for artists who want to participate, starting Sunday. A couple years ago I experienced Art Jam for the first time. I loved it and plan to return on Friday, March 20th! Come to experience an art party with live art, tattoos, music and more. Mark your calendars for May 3 for All Hands On Deck! This is an auction featuring local artists painting blank skateboards (without the wheels!) that are hung up and on display for a coupleonths at Beyond the Pale, in Ottawa. Partial proceeds of the auction sales go to charity. The Auction will happen from mid April until May 3, there will, of course, be a party at Beyond the Pale on May 3.
