Summer is a time for outdoor fun and there are so many free things to do around Portland. I kicked off the week by helping spread the word about World Forestry Center’s ForestFest. The free event is happening on Saturday, July 18, and also includes free entry to their Discovery Museum! I also posted about one of my favorite Portland Parks; a free alternative schooling option; and part 6 of my splash pads series with @daniee.marieee and @megan.in.pdx. On Parents Night Out PDX, I shared a reel about a spectacular whiskey distillery in wine country.

This week’s Thursday newsletter was a Kid-Friendly PDX Guide about Portland area parks with sand and water play that comes with an interactive map for easy planning!

Kid-Friendly PDX Guide: Parks with sand and water play

Let’s be real: the combination of sand and water makes for some pretty dirty play; however, it’s also amazing sensory play and a great summer activity! Pouring, digging, scooping, and textile exploration is so beneficial for children of all ages, and there are 17 parks within 25 miles of Portland that offer combo sand and water features.

In other news, there’s some fun farm events coming up. Lee Farms is hosting free craft time every Thursday in July and Frog Pond Farm is celebrating Christmas in July with a special visit from Santa!

I hope you all have a great week!
