Bess Fernandez is a writer living in Seattle, WA. They previously ran the newsletter Gay Takeaway, which published a series of interviews with queer writers and artists about the food they love and the stories behind some of their most memorable meals. They are currently at work on a book of poetry about the best part of the human body. Teeth. They have been published in Lungfull!, The New York Times, and elsewhere.
We welcome emerging and established voices: poetry, short prose (under 1800 words), hybrid forms, visual art, video, and unclassifiable experiments.
Previously unpublished work only, please. Simultaneous submissions are fine—just keep us in the loop if your piece has been accepted by another publication when we reach out.
We have a strict no-AI policy for all submissions.
If you love what you’re reading, please subscribe, restack, post, and share, and KHÔRA will be back soon.
