There’s a small Ant in Proverbs that has been on my mind for a couple weeks since my pastor has brought it up.
“Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise. It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.”
The ant doesn’t wait for motivation.
It doesn’t sprint for three days and then disappear.
It simply shows up, every day, and does the next small thing.
I used to operate the opposite way.
I’d wait for energy, write ten posts in a night, send a flood of DMs, map out an entire product, and feel like I was finally “locked in.”
Then the energy crashes would come. Two or three days of nothing.
Sometimes a full week. The work didn’t compound because the intensity couldn’t be sustained.
The ant doesn’t do intensity.
It does consistency.
That single shift changed how I build.
I stopped trying to force breakthroughs and started treating the work like the ant treats its harvest:
Just small, daily, almost invisible deposits that add up over time. Just showing up and moving.
Here’s the simple operating system that came out of it.
The Ant Framework (Daily + Weekly)
Daily (the non-negotiables)
1. Write something. Even if it’s only 200–300 words. A note, a short post, a paragraph for a client, or a private reflection.
The goal is not perfection. The goal is to keep the muscle warm.
2. Post once on a platform with intention.
Not five random posts. One clear piece of value or one honest observation. Then walk away.
3. Make one sales move. Reply to a comment, send one thoughtful DM, or follow up with someone who already showed interest. Just one.
That’s it. Three small actions. Most days they take less than 90 minutes total.
Weekly (the harvest work)
1. Review what actually performed. Look at the notes and posts from the past seven days. Keep what resonated. Drop what didn’t.
2. Ship one larger piece. A longer note, a short newsletter, or a section of a product. Something that required more than a single sitting.
3. Protect one full rest block. A half-day or full day with no content creation and no outreach.
The ant stores food in summer so it can survive winter. Rest is part of the system, not a reward for finishing the system.
It will not feel like progress most days.
But after a few months the results start to look inevitable.
The people who last in this game are rarely the ones who have the most talent or the most explosive weeks. They are the ones who kept gathering when no one was watching.
You don’t need a boss standing over you.
Go to the ant.
Consider its ways.
