Breathes without asking,
pumps without praise,
mends while I sleep.

Scars, aches, pain:
signatures
of survival.

Ignored,
sometimes neglected,
yet perpetually present.

For some, a shrine;
for others, a sentence;
for me, simply a vessel.

Slows with age,
wrinkles with time,
asks a little more of me.

Yet through every season,
it remains faithful;
and for that, I am grateful.
