A San Diego County elected official says a woman seated directly behind him and his 6-year-old son at Monday’s Padres game made an antisemitic remark about Jewish Pittsburgh Pirates player Spencer Horwitz, turning a father-son night into a lesson about standing up to anti-Jewish bigotry.
San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk Jordan Marks said he immediately confronted the woman after hearing her suggest Horwitz was “cheating” because he is Jewish. The confrontation grew heated, with a man accompanying the woman cursing at him as Marks stood and put his son behind him.
