It had been a long day. I felt exhausted physically and emotionally. Mentally, I went through my checklist of solutions.

I was ready to solve this problem… or so I thought.

We had gone through the checklist of solutions I had prepared, and nothing was going as planned. No one ever gave a solution for what to do when the prescribed solutions do not work.
I sat in the car with tears streaming down my face. Why is parenting so hard? I should know what to do. I should be able to solve this, but instead I could not.
I was at a loss.

“You cannot control this.”
Those were the words my husband had gently told me as I leaned over the bathroom sink; exhaustion filled my face even though the day had just begun.
Control. The word that so often comes up in my life.
When things feel out of control, I seek a solution. I step into action, and sometimes I grasp at anything and everything to calm the storm. Action is always good, but I often forget that in the action there needs to be surrender.
Surrender and action- easier said than done, but always what helps when life feels out of control.
