Please note the bracketed correction in the ninth paragraph of Weightlifting: Flirting with Injury:
Subjects vary widely as to their ability to gradually and safely contract to their maximum force production. Characteristically, inexperienced subjects cannot get near their red line, while experienced subjects can attain a force much closer. And some gifted individuals can attain it—which means that they become injured. [In my original post, I stated that “… some gifted individuals can exceed it…” Correction: If the red line is attained, structural integrity is instantly lost, and with this loss, force potential is drastically and instantly reduced if not lost entirely. There would be no exceeding it.]
Also note that I have added four paragraphs after the last graphic frame and beginning with “You may have noticed…”
