“People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Some are meant to teach you lessons, some are meant to break you so you can rebuild yourself stronger, and some—just a few—are meant to stay with you forever. The trick is knowing which is which and letting go of those who were never meant to stay.”
June came and went in a bit of a haze, and somewhere along the way I could feel burnout quietly starting to creep in. Work has been especially full lately, and a few outside campaigns came through as well — which, in many ways, is a good thing, even if it’s felt like a lot to hold at once.
The first month of winter in Western Australia has now passed, and I’ve never been particularly close with the colder seasons. As much as there’s comfort in bundling up at home — heaters on, layers piled high, something warm within reach — the days have also been quite grey and rainy, which hasn’t exactly made it easy to feel motivated to step outside.
In a way though, it’s pushed me further into the quieter comforts of home. Reading more regularly again, falling back into films and shows, and leaning into the kinds of media that feel grounding rather than demanding. If you’ve been here for a while, you’ll know I love putting together little collections of recommendations (you can find previous posts here). This month, I’ve also stayed firmly in my ongoing obsession with Chinese dramas — there’s something so captivating about the way the storytelling unfolds over longer episodes and seasons, with character arcs, costumes, and set design given so much space to breathe in a way that often feels more expansive than many Western series.
For this month’s question of the week, I’ll be answering: “You’ve shared tips before on how to start investing with small amounts of money. Do you have any tips on what to look at when choosing individual stocks?” — and as always, you’re welcome to send in your own questions here.
Alongside that, I’ve pulled together my usual small collection of things meant to inspire and comfort you this month — books to get lost in, films to unwind with, gentle reminders, and little reflections to carry into the weeks ahead.
As always, if you’ve missed any of my past monthly reset posts, you can catch up here.
