Beta feedback on Of Kings and Fairies is coming in, and it’s mostly good, although there is, as ever, more work to do. Prince Hugo needs to dig deeper and get in touch with his emotional side. In his defense, that is difficult to do at the best of times, and he is trying to save the world from war. Ambitious? Perhaps. Does he even have time for romance?
One might suggest that is what Hugo is saving the world for. He just has to believe he deserves love too, after all he’s done.
He’s is going to have to figure it out, because Of Kings and Fairies releases on August 31, and there’s still editing to get through! We’ll make it. I’m nothing if not good at deadlines. Pre-order it here.
I have a working title for book 6: ‘A Prince’s Grief’. We’ll see if it sticks.
In a twist surprising absolutely no one, A Prince’s Grief is already longer than every other book in the series and is seriously threatening to become a novel. But it is closing out the series, so… it’s allowed to? Plenty of series get longer as they go on.
Like Hugo, I am being ambitious: A Prince’s Grief is multiple POV because it’s a heist, and I think those are usually more fun when you can see each part coming together. Plus it gives the partners who didn’t get a POV in their romance a chance to have their voices heard. So we have:
Jules facing up to the cruel way he left Gabriel
Nina feeling that she’s lost her identity as the partner of a peace activist
Gage admitting that she’s afraid of love
Lucien realising that he’s been taking his relationships for granted
Elvire continuing to be competent… and questioning whether she truly wants to be a monarch
Casimir coming back to help end the war he inadvertently started
All woven in with Noah masterminding the heist and possibly falling for their rescuee, V, who also gets a POV. And the premise presently is pen pals to lovers, so there are letters.

Okay. It might be a long novella.
