A Final P3
Red: I think we're safe... Sheila: Where's Charlie? Charlie: I'm here; don't worry. No one saw us. Come on; let's find you a good place to nest.
The adventures of a stray German Shepherd. Charlie, the stray German shepherd dog, explores the city & the country, dodges the pound, makes friends & enemies, & just tries to survive in a tough world.
Red: I think we're safe... Sheila: Where's Charlie? Charlie: I'm here; don't worry. No one saw us. Come on; let's find you a good place to nest.
Sheila: Charlie! Hurry! Charlie: Got it! [He opens the gate on her cage] Charlie: Run Sheila! Run! RUN!!!
Charlie: I'm going down there... Red: But you could be caught! Charlie: We can't leave her! It's a risk, but I've gotta take it! Red: Be careful, Charlie... Sheila: Charlie! Charlie: Let's get you outta here!
Don't have time to scan, crop, etc. But I've left the characters in a bit of a lurch. Can't have that. If you don't mind, I'll post microchapters here, on this blog, to continue things.
Someone gets a rope around a stray dog's neck. Sheila: Ack!!! Man1: My goodness, I think she's expecting... Man2: Aww... Don't worry. Yo don't have to go thru that...
Charlie: Come on! We've gotta get outta here! Red: Yessir! Sheila: Wait! Wait! WAAAIT!!!
Charlie, Sheila, hide in the grass. Red skies to a stop. Two men look at them. "Hey, are those the strays you said have been hanging around?"
Red: You'll like the trailer, Sheila! It's cool! It has an upstairs section Charlie: It's rundown. Don't oversell it. Sheila: I'm just glad to have a place to whelp. Charlie: Wha? Red: No! No! (Looks out at a pile of rubbe & backhoe) Where... Where is it?
Sheila: I don't even wan a home anymore. I just want some peace. Red: Charlie... We have a place... We could... Charlie: I know, Red. I know.
Sheila: I don't mean to be sour. It's just...if you're caught, it's only your life. For me it's 6, 7, 8, 9 lives... The stress gets to me; that's all.
Sheila: Yeah. Everyone likes boy dogs. But a girl? (Rolls eyes) "Oh no! She'll have puppies! We can't have them around here! Make hego! Catch her! Call the pound!" (Disgusted) They've even made our name a curse word...
Scruff: Bottom line, walk confidently, act calmly, & no one 'll bother you. Usually. (From the Bushes.) That's true if you're a boy... *Russle Russle Russle* Female Dog: It's not if you're a girl... Scruff: Oh. Hi Sheila.
Charlie: That man could've caught us. Scruff: But he didn't. Charlie, you act too much like a stray. Charlie: But we are strays. Scruff: Right. But you don't have to act like it.
Scraps: Think of it this way... (He imagines a dog running from a man.) If a man sees a dog, nervous, running, "That's a stray! That's dangerus!" (He imagines a dog, playing with a man.) But, if they see a friendly, confident dog, they assume it's a pet! And not dangerous! People call the pound on dangerous dogs, not wandering dogs. )Charlie & Red look at eachother, unsure.)
