The Mixtape | 1.21.24

Today I’m bringing y’all a new series… The Mixtape! The Mixtape will be a sometimes-finely-sometimes-chaotically assembled mashup of personal stuff, recs, and just general life updates. Think of it as me making a metaphorical mixtape for you… because I love you 💖

Not a ton to report because I switched up very little in terms of my journal lineup this year. I’m using a Hobonichi HON A5 in the floral (Liberty Fabrics) print. She’s cute and in English this time which is kind of weird? Still getting used to it after being in a Japanese version for the last 2 years!

Last year I didn’t use my weeklies at all (basically just for lists/scrap paper), and this year I’ve been fully embracing them! They are turning out so cute and I’m in loooove.

I have been using them to collage my personal life, media consumed, and just generally what has been going on in the world. It has been so much fun so far to see the completed collages and I’m loving the process in general. It’s causing me to reflect on what defined my weeks: the people, places, and things that fill my days!

I use Canva to make a collage of all the pics I want to print on my usual HP inkjet printer, and then I will print a few more pics with my Canon Ivy. I’ve been using the Ivy for personal pics and movie posters/book covers and my printer for more of the memes and pop culture stuff/things that I want to have larger in my collage. The Canon Ivy paper is kind of $$$ so I like to print multiple pics per sheet and that usually means smaller photos.

Ryan and I made a bingo card for our 2024 goals. We each wrote down a bunch of personal and some couple goals for this year and I used a random number picker to add them to a blank bingo card.

We combined our “personal” goals and our “couple” goals into one board so we can hold each other accountable throughout the year and keep each other motivated. We printed it out and have it hanging in our bedroom!

We did a good mix of fun and challenging goals so we could keep it fun! There’s also no pressure to complete the whole board, just get “bingo”… so it’s fairly low-stakes and we love that.

I am officially upgrading my 2017 Kindle Paperwhite! I’m selling it to a friend (who is interested in the Kindle but wasn’t 100% sure if she’d love it) for the buyback price and I couldn’t be more excited to upgrade! I’m probably going to get a case from this shop because I’ve literally been eyeing her stuff since August…

It has been a minute since I’ve wanted to read ANYthing… I haven’t finished a book since November 🥲 But I’ve been really into reading on the treadmill lately, especially on a Saturday morning! So the routine has been helping me ease back into reading again.
