The Olympics, New Tattoos, and Sticker Mail | Obsessions Week 31

In March, I started a series on Instagram where I asked my followers what their current obsessions were that week. Anything that was taking up brain space for them was fair game.

I’ve gotten so many messages about how much people love the series and look forward to it every week so I’ve been thinking about a way to tie it into Girls’ Girl in a way that made sense. Enter: today’s newsletter!

I am using this first edition as a trial run, but I have been sharing everyone else’s obsessions regularly but my own, and I figured this would be a great spot for me to dive deeper into the things I’ve been loving/screaming about each week! Here we goooo:

🇺🇸 The Olympics

*Eagle screeching sounds* 🦅 I am never as patriotic as I am when the Olympics are on. What are your favorite events to watch? I’m a women’s gymnastics and swimming girly but I will watch pretty much anything that’s on. Favorite Olympic things that have happened so far:

• Flavor Flav sponsoring the women’s water polo team after he heard they were working multiple jobs while also training despite winning gold 3 Olympics in a row.

• Jason Kelce sporting a beret & seeing Kylie in her element watching the Olympic field hockey team

• Women’s Rugby team winning bronze and Ilona Maher becoming the most followed active rugby player on IG

• The women’s gymnastics team being silly and dancing with Snoop Dogg and just generally looking like they’re having so much FUN. PLUS !!! winning gold and shutting up the haters.

• The crowd going nuts for Leon Marchand as he swam the men’s 400m IM, earning his first Olympic gold medal and also setting a new Olympic record.

• Norwegian swimmer Henrik Christiansen being obsessed with the chocolate muffins in the Olympic Village (tbh, in his defense, they look amazing) and making multiple TikToks about them

• Italian flag bearer, Gianmarco Tamberi, lost his wedding ring in the Seine during opening ceremony and he basically spoke poetry about it. If I were his wife, I couldn’t even be mad.

• The men’s gymnastics team… all of them, but specifically Stephen Nedoroscik, pommel horse king !!!

💍 Our Anniversary

Last Monday, Ryan and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary! We are officially no longer newlyweds #sad. It’s crazy because… I’m pretty sure we just got married? ANYWAY… we planned a fun day!

We both took off work and went to our fav coffee shop in the morning. I made an album1 of our wedding photos and gave it to him as a surprise. At night we watched our wedding video while eating our anniversary cake2 and ordered food for dinner and just cozied up at home. The big event was our tattoo appointment which brings me to my next ~obsession~

🦋 New Tattoos

Ryan and I got coordinating tattoos! It was his first tattoo so, like, cute af. He got a small script “K” on his left wrist and I got an “R” in the same spot on my right wrist.

I also got a cutie little butterfly tat from the artist’s flash sheet! If you’re local to me I definitely recommend going to see Avalon, she was the sweetest AND she even got us cupcakes because she knew it was our anniversary 🥹

😊 Sticker Mail

Been busy curating my sticker collection in anticipation of my 2025 Hobonichi! It’s important to collect stickers the year before so you have options for the new cover, duh. I ordered some cute ones from my friend Ellie of Ellie Harte Designs and I love them!

Also ordered a grab bag of stickers and other stationery items from Allie Rose Co. I’ve been keeping my eye out at local businesses and other stores as well

🍿 Deadpool & Wolverine

Last night, Ryan and I went to go see the new Deadpool movie again but with friends this time! I absolutely love the Deadpool movies. Ryan Reynolds was born to play this character. They’re the perfect mix of raunchy, fun, and over the top while still having the core superhero film elements. I totally recommend going to see it if you can!

☕️ Fun Coffee Glasses

I’m firmly in my “coffee at home” era3 and I have loved using these fun little glasses and glass straws! My favorites right now are these little bubble glasses (they come with straws too!) They are very reminiscent of these cups my grandmother used to have which might be why I love them so much!

I weirdly never know how to end these newsletters, so I will just let you know that I’m grateful to you for reading this and supporting me even when I’m terribly inconsistent.
