And hinduism has no single centralized book it has a lot of texts which contains multitude of ideas

And we should 100% appreciate that some philosophical texts did have genuinely profound and even proto-egalitarian ideas no doubt about that. But it also has a lot of misogynistic structures elsewhere in the same vast religion. It's highly contradictory and hypocritical. This was one of the big reasons i became an atheist that how come god says women are devi this that and the next moment he says they aren't allowed to read vedas(yes literally written in Manusmriti). Is God impartial to 50% of his human creations? 💀

And yea that goddess thing being feminist is also debated because of its "benevolent sexism" as it creates an impossible standard of purity, endless sacrifice, and unconditional nurturing.

And I was fine with her defending the extraordinary philosophical ideals very rightly so but then moving onto Gargi and Maetryi as if hinduism continued allowing females in intellectual discussions 😭

Pointing to two elite women from 3,000 years ago to prove the system is feminist is like pointing to a female CEO to prove the gender pay gap doesn't exist.

Till when will we keep saying "oh it's just the people interpreting it wrongly". Relgion is not just its abstract ideals. The genuinely good must be appreciated just like we appreciate greek philosophy. But we don't live with philosophy we live with real people. If nearly every religiously fundamentalist structure ends up deeply patriarchal, then maybe patriarchy is not just an accidental corruption of religion maybe parts of the structure itself make those interpretations naturally sustainable. The texts as a whole may have enough ambiguity and patriarchal material to enable those readings in the first place right?
