Good news! It’s appropriations season.

President Trump released his budget proposal a couple of weeks ago, and the U.S. House will take up the first appropriations bill this week.

The president’s budget has some great KIDS FIRST aspects, with language across all 12 appropriations bills prohibiting the funding of gender transition procedures for kids.

The proposal calls out the Department of Education’s previous earmarking of $1.2 million for San Diego Community College’s Pride Center and Head Start centers, funds which were used to promote picture books about gay penguins to little kids and lessons on how to grow children’s “gender identity.”

The budget also calls out the National Library of Medicine for previously funding a program for nurses to learn about “transgender and gender diverse” patient care.

In addition, the proposed budget calls out the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). This agency is guilty of harming kids with transgender “care,” funding a project at the Seattle Children’s Hospital (“Using Telehealth to Improve Access to Gender-Affirming Care for BIPOC and Rural Gender-Diverse Youth”), and hosting an online tool designed to help young women who identify as transgender choose a contraceptive.

In addition to addressing the gender nonsense, Trump’s budget contains several pro-life wins as well. The proposal maintains longstanding pro-life riders, such as the Hyde Amendment (prohibiting federal tax dollars from funding abortion), the Weldon Amendment (preventing discrimination against health care entities that refuse to participate in abortion), and the Helms Amendment (prohibiting foreign aid from being spent on abortion).

By far my favorite part, the president’s budget calls for defunding Planned Parenthood and eliminating two HHS funding streams: the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program (TPPP) and the Division of Adolescent and School Health (DASH). These grants fund Planned Parenthood’s sex education in our K12 schools — sex education which is anti-parent, developmentally tone-deaf, anything-goes, rights-based, gender-confusing, and abortion-positive.

If you, like me, believe schools have no business teaching kids anything about sex, sexuality or identity, you can call the U.S. Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121 and urge your representatives to APPROVE the president’s FY2027 budget proposal which eliminates TPPP & DASH.

I’m Katy. KIDS FIRST is both a mindset and a call to action. Kids’ needs must come before adult agendas, in every aspect of life, and kids don’t need Planned Parenthood’s sex-ed.
