My loves, hello!
I have something for you.
It’s free.
Come here…
I don’t know about you but I just want to get hot, be in my body, feel in awe of the life around me. Be in response to it. And NOT feel numbed out, resentful or any sort of dead inside as a mother.
Now, I have managed to find the magic in the mundane.
That’s part of motherhood.
But I had to claw my way back to my erotic nature, and to feel alive and turned on by life again.
This year has burnt through it all for me.
That’s why I wanted to record this conversation with an old mentor of mine
ASAP and get it in front of your eyes.
Some women still are missing the link between their erotic nature, and their creativity, money, self expression and deep intimacy with life …. and it shows.
This is A conversation between Kat River and Chantelle Raven. A podcast episode if you will.
Motherhood is supposed to be the ultimate act of love and yet, so often, it’s the moment a woman’s aliveness dies. It’s as though we can pass the baton of life force over to our children and they run around with innocence and awe for the human experience. And we wonder where we went.
I sat down with renowned Tantra teacher Chantelle Raven a couple of weeks ago to record this specifically for you.
She is an ex lawyer, turned sleep consultant, turned tantra teacher.
She has traveled the world, raised two children into adult hood. Experienced deep intimacy and partnership and also solo motherhood.
Her body of work reaches far and wide, and her success, she believes, is down to embracing becoming an erotic mother.
We blow the lid off the myth that motherhood and eroticism can’t coexist.
This conversations is part philosophy, part permission slip, part exorcism of every belief that’s ever told a woman she has to shrink to be a good mum.
“Most women don’t lose their aliveness because they became mothers. They were already numbing out, already living in their heads, already settling for a partner or a life without real chemistry and motherhood simply gave them somewhere to point the blame.”
“Everything you’re telling yourself is restrictive because you’re a mother,” Chantelle says. “If you took motherhood away, would those things still be there?”
From there, the we dismantle the cultural conditioning that tells women something un-named has to “die” when they become mothers. Usually sexuality, freedom, ambition, self. We must reframe motherhood instead as an initiation. An experience of life that demands you get radically honest with yourself, or it will make you miserable.
So if you’re into this, and want to dive into how
- The social and cultural conditioning on motherhood (Can we just be hot and turned on??)
- Eroticism isn’t about the bedroom it’s a response to life.
- Motherhood didn’t kill my eros, micro lies and untruths did.
- How resentment isn’t the enemy… resisting it is.
- Control is the thing that has to die.
- Consistency looks different for every element/temperament. What do you need to create inner harmony…
-Nietzsche’s camel–lion–child model of evolution.
Here’s a sneak peak…
“It’s easier for women to say, ‘I’m not feeling sexual because I’m a mother,’ than it is to say, ‘I’m not feeling sexual because I’m not with the right man.’”
“From the time that I gave birth, home birthed both my kids, I was making love a few days after, and I’ve never stopped making love... I’ve been like a daily, every couple of days girl for the last 25 years.”
“It’s actually okay to feel resentful as a mom... and that’s not your only state, and it will move and shake and evolve as you do.”
“If you can’t surrender as a mother, good luck feeling good. Good f***ing luck.”
“Spirit rewards risk.”
By the end, we move the conversation beyond motherhood into business, creativity, and dharma. Chantelle shares how she turned down major money and stages when they didn’t align, and how her biggest financial breakthroughs came only after she moved through fear connected to childhood sexual abuse.
The through line for both Chantelle and I is the same: aliveness, honesty, and eroticism aren’t separate from purpose. It’s the fuel for it.
