As I was walking through the Florence airport waiting for my flight to London, I noticed the chicest 80 year old woman standing in line next to me. She had a black Hermes Birkin as her carry on bag and was holding it so nonchalantly. She was dressed simply and elegantly. She wasn’t carrying it in a showy kind of way - she just had it casually hanging on her arm with the front of the bag facing in. She also had a fun twilly tied around the handles.
I thought to myself, now THIS is how a Birkin should be used and carried.
Effortlessness = the ultimate chicness.
You see, social media has sort of tainted Birkins and given them a bad rap. They’ve become a bit of a nouveau riche status symbol.
It’s actually why I’ve never really been interested in owning a Birkin, and instead chosen the more classic Kelly style over the years. But seeing this woman carry it so casually, and use it in her everyday life like this changed my mind. Btw I believe this is exactly how the bag was intended to be worn - and how it looks best. The Birkin and all Hermes bags for that matter have always been for women who appreciate craftsmanship, quality, and timelessness. So now of course I must have a Birkin of my own thanks to this absolutely fabulous 80 year old woman. Color me influenced!

Anyways, I’ve now started planning all of my fall outfits around a black Hermes Birkin 30, as well as a trip to Paris and wanted to share everything I’m eyeing + buying right now for pre-fall.
Leather leggings - These are 100% worth the investment, I took a size small (also available here.)
Pillbox hats - A moment for this one!
Cropped jackets - This Rohe one is impossibly classic, this Reformation jacket screams Paris, no one does a jacket better than Nili Lotan, and you can’t go wrong with this one under $100.
Weather resistant jackets - This cropped Varley one is a must for casual outings and this light beige Barbour jacket just came back in stock.
Lug boots - I own these boots and wear them nonstop. Love these as well from the Nordstrom Sale.
Dark wash relaxed fit straight jeans - I just got these! I took my normal size and got them hemmed to work with a Chanel slingback.
Chambray button downs - Look no further, this is the one you NEED, trust me I own several. Size down.
Silk sets - I want to live in this chocolate brown silk set and this Toteme print set (size down.)
Ballet flats - Obviously Chanel… always! Budget and more airport friendly: these.
