You’ve landed on Unleash for my writers and creatives who need a sex-positive community to hone their craft and their kink - plus a host of resources to spice up just about every area of your life. There’s my flagship publication The Year of the Cat you’ll find literary erotica, essays, and collaborations with some of my favourite writers. I host Ask Kate Anything, where readers send me questions they’ve been too embarrassed to ask anyone else.
Creativity is a relationship we have within ourselves. It’s a conversation with desire and need and want. The pull to create is deeply ingrained and deeply erotic. The two cannot be separated.
And, like any relationship, it asks things of us. It asks for attention, honesty, discipline, curiosity. Sometimes it asks us to surrender. Sometimes it asks us to take the lead.
UNLEASH is a space to explore that relationship.
We’ll borrow from psychology, ritual, literature, philosophy and kink to discover what happens when we stop treating creativity as something to chase and start treating it as something we cultivate.
We’ll experiment with structure and spontaneity. We’ll notice the stories that keep us small. We’ll make things, write things, abandon things, return to things. Most importantly, we’ll learn how to trust ourselves enough to keep creating.
Because creativity also flourishes in community
For anyone who feels there is more inside them than they’re currently giving the world.
Writers, artists, photographers, designers, makers, founders, performers—or anyone curious about living a more creative life.
You don’t need to be writing a novel. You don’t need to call yourself an artist. You don’t even need to know what you want to make yet.
You simply need a willingness to pay closer attention.
If you’ve spent any time reading The Year of the Cat, you’ll know I’m fascinated by the places where creativity, desire and identity overlap. Not because art needs to be erotic, but because both ask the same question:
What would happen if you stopped apologising for what you want?
This space is an invitation to find out.
I’ll publish regular essays, reflections and creative provocations, alongside optional exercises, prompts and recommendations for further reading.
Some of the practices are inspired by approaches like The Artist’s Way. Others come from my own creative life and the conversations we’ve been having for years.
Everything is self-guided. Join whenever you’re ready. Stay as long as you like.
Paid subscribers will also have access to a private community where we can share work, ask difficult questions, celebrate breakthroughs and survive the inevitable creative meltdowns together.
We’ll keep it generous, thoughtful and free from nonsense. (No unsolicited dick pics. I cannot believe I have to write that, but here we are.)
Your subscription supports the essays, the exercises and the time it takes to hold this space well. It also helps create a community of people who genuinely want to do the work—not simply consume content about doing it.
If you’re already a paid subscriber, just send me a note and I’ll add you to the community.
A notebook.
Something to write with.
Curiosity.
And the courage to surprise yourself.
I can’t wait to welcome you to the fold
