Week 9 - Recovering A Sense of Compassion

I have had a week of delays and procrastination, and feeling thoroughly stuck, which means I am about right on time. This is the week where the wheels very nearly come off and I think fuck this, I cannot! And I doom-scroll instead.

This week instead of writing this - which is already very late - I spent an hour(s) looking up various videos of System of a Down in a bid to make me feel something other than being filled with despondency.

Which was actually fortuitous because, a) I got to listen to Chop Suey over and over (joyful, for this 90s goth/new metal enthusiast recovering from religious trauma)

And b) because I found this excellent clip of Rick Rubin (who was their producer) talking about art and music and how being middle of the road is a death for creatives.

And yes SOAD is ‘crazy person’s music’ .

You don’t have to like them to take Rick’s advice!
