It's been a minute

We’re in the thick of the busy part of summer, from two youth conferences back to back, and a Sister sister visit in between, to a trip to the Knights of Columbus Supreme Convention in Denver with a side quest to Peoria, IL in the coming days. Yes, this Substack is sorely neglected (which is why it’s a free substack, and not a paid one, so you can’t hold me to posting).

Not posting here doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy elsewhere, though, namely, on my SiriusXM show every weekday morning, which is rocking and rolling.

To tide you over til I have more time to actually post a substantial analysis on Pope Leo’s much deserved vacation this past month, here’s a round-up of some recent segments from The Katie McGrady Show.

The Steubenville Youth Conferences turned 50 this summer, and here’s a statistic for you: 18% of priests ordained in 2026 went to a Steubenville Youth Conference in their teen or young adult years.

I have had the great joy of being part of this ministry for over 10 years, and I learn something new each summer.

In February of 2021, Pope Francis “expanded” today’s late July feast day, adding St. Martha’s siblings, Mary and Lazarus, to the day. It’s been re-dubbed “The feast of the holy siblings” by many and it’s one of my favorite days on the liturgical calendar.

I am deeply worried about what AI is doing to our world. More and more, it seems like half the nonsense being posted online is AI generated slop, from book covers to religious “art” to even best selling novels. I think we lose something essential to our humanity when AI use becomes the norm, turning us into pigs eating from a slop trough rather than noble humans worthy of a five course gourmet meal.
