So much of my writing is about translating moments. Taking snapshots from my experiences and bringing you right into them as if you were there. Not simply so that you can feel something but so that what you feel begins to illuminate something for you. You start to see.
For so many of us, connection is a mystery - and we like it that way. Because those moments of pure connection are the moments when something brand new occurs. A spark. Creation. Something you couldn’t have actually predicted even if you tried. Connection is beyond You.
I don’t attempt to demystify connection. 1 - because that’s impossible, and 2 - because why would I want to? It is one of the greatest delights of life. But what I do try and do is give language to the ways people dance with it so that you can receive the depth of connection more openly. So you can navigate it with greater agency. So you can choose it more fully.
Whenever I share my writing, I get a variety of responses. Some people feel it and resonate. Others project and defend themselves. It is a whole cocktail of reactions, which makes sense. When illumination happens, belief systems are revealed. Wounding is touched. Identities challenged. And desires evoked.
Connection is an existential desire we have and will always have. Some people don’t want to admit it. Others don’t use that word, but it’s there within all of us. The ache to return to each other. The ache to be seen. To matter. This is especially true between men and women where the collective wounding and programming runs very very deep.
In my work beyond my writing, I support people in opening to that. l work with people one on one on their capacity to feel, trust the life force in their bodies, and express what is most true. In groups, I create experiences for people to meet in those moments of honest connection more frequently. Connection is transformative. It changes you, every time, no matter how big or small.
Since being on this platform, I’ve continually been exploring ways to bring what I do on the page, into a more personal and transformative experience. True growth only happens when we actually practice. Which is part of the reason I am hosting an online salon this Saturday Feb 28th at 1pm EST. This experience feels very dear to my heart and is some of my most potent exercises brought into a warm and cozy dinner party vibe. Connection work can feel intimidating, but what I want all people to see is there is always a meeting point, no matter where you’re at in your capacity to reveal. You do not need to be more vulnerable or more expressive. You simply need to meet the truth.
We cannot just read about it if we want to experience it in our life. We must be willing to meet the edges. And there is no better place to do it, than with others who are there for the very same purpose. Orienting to the the truth of the moment between you and another. There is nothing else.
if you spend a lot of time online and have a tendency to be pulled into the rhetoric that is doom and gloom about the opposite sex (ie. “there are no good men or women out there!”)
if you desire more real, no fluff, no bullshit conversations with people
if you want to practice meeting your edges of being seen in connection (including with the opposite sex)
if you want to get to know how your system responds to different types of people
if you’re curious about other humans and open to experiencing something new
if you’re part of a couple and find yourselves in some looping dynamics
We have a really solid group forming with some incredible humans that you’re going to want to meet. You can learn more and register here.
I hope to see you there.
With love,
Katie
