Hi Friends,
Even though I am not in the bookshop right now, I have scheduled this post to arrive at our usually arranged time, to tell you that there is no Receipt from the Bookshop today. I am in the forest, and the only over-heards I should be reporting are the bright chirps of the conversational birds, the shush of the drunken trees swaying in the breeze, the cold piano tinkle of ice cubes in a glass, and the Bookwormlet repeating “can I eat something?” until bedtime.
I’ll back to the bookshop next week, but I thought in the meantime we could share our weekend reads here in the comments. I usually post this topic as a thread on the Chat, but I know not everyone uses the platform so hopefully more of you can get involved this time. I’ll pick a comment at random to receive a copy of Receipts from the Bookshop, as gifted by the excellent and generous TW for August.
Even though I have packed two books for the forest, I suspect I will not get quite as much reading done as I imagine, because we’re here with friends, and it seems a bit rude to disappear with a book and a brew instead of, you know, being involved. But, I have brought with me:
