Kate Darroch · Kate’s Books & Blog

Good morning, my dear readers and friends. As many of you know, I was rushed into hospital at the beginning of December last year, and I have yet to recover from that serious illness. Meanwhile, things have been “out of whack”. I did - by Herculean effort - get our charity anthology, The Luck of the Irish, to press by St Patrick’s Day, but that’s (practically speaking) the only work I’ve been able do this year.

When the cat’s away, the mice will play. I have paid what is a great deal of money to me, over a full year’s worth of my disposable income, for a variety of services that did not get supplied, with little chance that they will ever be supplied, and Zero chance that anyone will help me to untangle the mess — my last 3 assistants sadly were of no assistance, 2 of them through major illness and family issues of their own.

Why do I tell you this? Because many of you paid either for access to my book vault (which none of the 3 web developers I paid actually set up) or for particular books which were not supplied to you, and loyally did not complain, so you are at the very least entitled to an explanation. Plus, I promise you, I will work my way through the nightmare tangle of messy records and straighten things out, but that will take time.

I am about to enter what my sainted mother would have referred to as a “convalescent home” — a quiet country wellness retreat where naturopaths will strive to make me well again. By mid-September, I hope to have recovered enough to be able to work an hour or two a day for at least a few days a month on getting the huge backlog of out-of-kilter admin straightened out, money you paid refunded and/or books supplied.

Meantime, 2 of my author friends, Ada Bell and S Usher Evans, are kindly Gifting you audio books. Enjoy!

If responding to this announcement, pretty please do so by Comment rather than email (scroll to the bottom, where you will see Comment to click on) as I have a backlog of over 7,000 emails to work my way through… at no more than 50 a day, doctor’s orders, sigh. If you emailed me earlier, please accept my apologies for my long silence.
