She had a front-row seat to history and remembers having dinner with Washington Post publisher Katharine Graham and executive editor Ben Bradlee — who she married in 1978 — the night President Richard Nixon resigned. Katharine had steered the paper’s investigative reporting into the Watergate scandal, and she told Sally and Ben that she didn’t want to be alone that night.
