Hello, my dear people.
If you’ve opened Substack today and thought, “Wait, where did Living Slowly, Beautifully, and Truthfully go?” — don’t worry. You’re in the right place.
Over the past year, I’ve written about war, grief, anxiety, routines, friendship, cats, quiet mornings, difficult emotions, small joys, and many other things. Somewhere along the way, I realized that while I still care deeply about slow living, it was never the heart of what I was writing about.
The pieces I felt most proud of weren’t really about slowing down.
They were about surviving hard things without losing yourself.
They were about remaining curious, honest, emotional, and alive when it would be much easier to become numb.
That’s where the new name comes from.
The Vivid Kind.
A space for hard things, small joys, and everything in between.
The writing isn’t changing overnight. In fact, if you’ve been here for a while, you’ll probably recognize that this is what I’ve been writing about all along. The new name simply feels more honest.
To make things easier to navigate, I’ve also organized my writing into four categories:
The difficult conversations. Writing about grief, loss, war, resilience, anger, fear, uncertainty, and the moments that force us to rebuild ourselves.
The small things that keep us going. Quiet mornings, routines, tiny joys, unexpected beauty, and all the ordinary moments that somehow become meaningful when we pay attention.
The vulnerable ones. Letters to younger selves, older selves, people we’ve loved, people we’ve lost, and people we’re still becoming.
Everything else that comes with being a person: friendship, family, creativity, work, identity, modern life, emotional contradictions, and all the wonderfully confusing experiences that connect us.
I don’t know exactly what the next year of writing will bring, but I do know one thing: I’m grateful you’re here 🩷
Whether you’ve been reading since my very first post or joined somewhere along the way, thank you for spending a small piece of your life with me.
See you soon.
Kate
