Mooncusser (the beer, not the raw bar) has been around for about a year, but based on this label that just popped up, it appears that is/was is ready to move this into cans.
I don’t remember exactly when I learned that oysters could be an ingredient in beer — probably the late 90’s, around the time that the Guinness Oyster Fest was taking place in Chicago — but ever since then I’ve always been happy to advocate for more oysters and salt in a beer, especially where saisons are concerned.
I also really enjoy the dedication that is/was has to pairing saison and farmhouse beers in conjunction with really good food. I’ve had their special Akahoshi Ramen beer alongside a bowl of spicy miso, and they’ve also brewed beers in partnership with places like Le Bouchon and Creepies.
It looks like Mooncusser (the raw bar, not the beer) is actually in Boston, so you’ll have to travel a little farther to enjoy this one in situ.
Up next for our Premium Subscribers: We’re pairing pickle with another interesting flavor, adding another new light beer to a big regional brewery, dipping back into a legendary beer series from the late 2000s, getting sticky, getting oily, and getting excessively mango-y.
