Phase Three dropped a bit of a bombshell this week: They announced that their third location would be located in the city of Chicago … and it would be at the Rockwell on the River space, which once housed Metropolitan Brewing.
What they’re promising to bring sounds pretty great, too: “Every beer we make. Our full seltzer lineup. Hard seltzer cocktails. And eventually, pizza. A hybrid that takes the best of what we love about charred rustic New Haven and modern Brooklyn slice shop pizza.”
Just one week removed from having to take Links Taproom off our list of “breweries in planning we’re excited about,” and P3 CHI (as we’re calling it) moves to the top of the list for sure. This location was too cool to be left vacant for long and I’m glad another beermaker is going to get to serve up pints in such an amazing space.
With tomorrow being one of the biggest dates on the Midwestern events calendar, it only makes sense that this is Great Taste Eve.
The parties actually started a couple of days ago, but there’s things happening all over Madison tonight; the GTMW website has a huge list of events taking place. Be safe out there.
Stuck in Chicago? Get on over to the Beer Temple, which kicks off a series of special cask beer tappings over the next few Fridays, starting with some unfiltered Einbecker.
Obviously, Great Taste of the Midwest takes place today from 1-6pm. Stay hydrated.
If you’re not at GTMW but still up for a fest, there’s also the Great Lakes Beer Festival in Midland, MI.
Dovetail’s ten-year birthday party starts on Saturday and continues into their “Mega-Kolsch” service on Sunday. They’ve got some very cool beers going on tap in their Secret Garden you should check out.
Looking to pair some healthiness with your beer intake? Guinness Chicago is hosting a Wellness Weekend at their taproom. It started on Saturday but we’re suggesting a Sunday because brunch is better on Sundays - and they’ve got a brunch discount to take advantage of after their yoga class.
Our Events Listings remain free to all readers, so we can give you a reason (or three) to visit a local brewery, beer bar, bottle shop or beer event every week.
These listings skew Chicagoland-centric but I love including events from around the Midwest! To submit something for inclusion, send me an email.
Now for our Premium Subscribers, a look at this week’s most interesting…
