The collective energy lately has been heavy on comparison—measuring our path against everyone else’s, our progress against what’s working for them, believing we’re behind our own lives or should be further along than we are.
I’ve been feeling it too. Just last week, I was in the studio recording the audiobook for Beauty in the Stillness, and I noticed I was physically inside the most beautiful experience I’ve had all year. My body at peace, my heart open, knowing across those twelve hours (over the course of three days) that I wasn’t only where I was meant to be—I was exactly where I wanted to be.
And then I got home, opened my phone, and the pang of comparison hit. Briefly. But it was this fascinating moment: my physical reality was beyond aligned, and my digital world made me question it anyway. For a few seconds, I almost let my very sophisticated ego pull me out of the present and negate the extraordinary week I’d just lived!
That’s what so many of us are feeling right now. Other people are having quick wins, landing the things we want, tasting joy we haven’t yet—and we sit there going, what about me?
Well—what about you? What about the version of you from six months ago, a year ago, three years ago? They’d be in absolute awe of where you’re standing right now. Of everything you transformed, expanded, and carried yourself through.
Here’s the brutal truth: comparison isn’t just the thief of joy—it’s the thief of the present moment. And it’s the thief of creativity, because we pour our energy into watching instead of making.
So that’s the energy I picked up for the week ahead: detaching from the mind that questions our path, our timing, our way of doing things—and bringing ourselves back to the present, where the miracles are already happening.
