Friends,
Today, I’m announcing my candidacy for Orange County Commissioner. You can read more and hear my interview about this decision on WCHL here.
In my eight years on the Chapel Hill Town Council, we made real progress on many issues impacting the community. We created over 1,400 new units of affordable housing and passed $25 million in bonds to supply more. We passed our town’s first Climate Action and Response Plan and pledged to have net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. We also passed a comprehensive non-discrimination clause and created the Reimagining Community Safety Task Force to ensure the safety of all our residents.
Now, I’m running to bring my experience, values, and collaborative approach to the Orange County Board of County Commissioners.
I envision an Orange County that is more affordable, equitable, caring and responsive to the needs of all residents. My work on the Commission will put the community at the center.
My priorities will include making housing more accessible while also protecting our farmlands and supporting farmers to thrive. I will ensure that the County addresses inequities in our tax system so that it is implemented fairly. I’ll make sure our County provides for its residents by supporting our public schools and providing a reliable safety net of social services.

Finally, I hope you’ll join my kick-off on Monday, December 8th at Sidetrack (5906 Millhouse Rd, Chapel Hill, NC 27516) at 5pm. We will be running a toy and food drive - you will receive a drink ticket if you bring two cans of food or a new toy!
Whether you worked with me during my time on the Chapel Hill Town Council or this is the first you’ve heard from me, I’m excited to build a stronger, more compassionate Orange County together. Thank you for your support!
