Looks like we made it (cue Barry Manilow…)! Only five more days to go until the primary is finished. I’m so grateful to you all for going on this journey with me and now it comes down to what we do with these last few days.
So, we here at Stegman for Orange County offer this simple recipe to guide your remaining time:
Step 1: VOTE! This is the most important ingredient to our campaign. There is still time to vote early - today, until 7:30pm and tomorrow, from 8:00am-3:00pm. There are many benefits to voting early - you can go to any of the voting sites county-wide, you can register or change your registration, and you can free up your time on election day, which brings us to Step 2…
Step 2: VOLUNTEER! We need your help to win on Tuesday! Having campaign representatives at polling sites makes a significant difference in election outcomes. You might be surprised that many people have not decided who to vote for when they get to the polls. This presents a great opportunity to share why you support our campaign, our endorsements, and answer any questions voters may have. There are 40 polling sites across Orange County and we need folks at as many of those as possible. Please sign up for a shift or two here!
Step 3: CELEBRATE! Once the polls close on Tuesday, the last step will be to celebrate! We hope for a win, but regardless of the outcome, there will be so much to celebrate. This has been a community-centered campaign focused on a positive future for Orange County. I am so grateful to everyone who has taken time to share their hopes and concerns, to take me to tour their farms, to knock doors, and contribute funds. There is so much great momentum to build on, whether that’s onto the general election in November or to serving the community in other ways. I hope you will join us Tuesday evening after the polls close at Haw River Tap + Table in downtown Carrboro where we will gather to drink a toast and wait for the results to come in.
