It was October 2022 when we flew to London for a spectacle like no other: an interpretation of a Nordic mythological cycle in wrestling form. I’d never considered wrestling interesting in any way. The closest contact I’d had with it was in the opening scenes of the Highlander movie, many years ago.
But this wasn’t just wrestling — it was mythological theatre — of my mythology. I was immediately interested. Yes, it was a unique interpretation, a unique point of view, but aren’t all of our interpretations?
Flying to London for Mythos Ragnarok was quite a bold move on our part, but we had friends there we wanted to visit, and we invited them to the show as well.
It was worth every penny. All four of us enjoyed it immensely. It was funny, visually stunning, and physical — so intensely physical, it was reaching the limits of my understanding.
Afterwards, we even had a beer with the performers; they were very friendly and somehow impressed that we flew all the way from Czech Republic just to see them. Now, 250 performances later, they’ve announced a European tour for autumn 2026. They’re coming to the Czech Republic, where I live, and we’ll be in the audience again! They’re also performing in Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, Austria, and Switzerland.
If you trust my judgment and taste even a little, and they’re anywhere close to you, go. You won’t be disappointed.
