Kaitlyn Ramsay · Loving the Dark Parts

Currently, in Thailand, we’re celebrating the annual Thai new year, otherwise known as Songkran—which symbolises the transition of the sun through the zodiac sign of Aries, welcoming the new solar year (astrologically). For me, as an astrologer, this New Year celebration tends to feel like a true new beginning as we cross the threshold from Pisces season to Aries, and approach the Aries new moon. Water is used to cleanse, and you’ll see people take to the streets, temples, and their hometowns in celebration.

If you’re feeling anxious, unwell, and a little bit shaken up—you’re not crazy. We’re currently under a sky with six (soon to be seven) planetary bodies in Aries. The sun is coming up for a kiss with Chiron, the wounded healer, where the moon will soon follow under the new moon in Aries.

With that being said, the upcoming new moon has a flavour of healing. If you’re noticing some old wounds bubbling up from the past or even just some strange sensations in the body moving through (seemingly) without reason, this is an opportunity to witness what is happening within you on a somatic level. Let it move through you. Witness it.

Mars and Saturn are also coming in to do their dance, so it could feel a bit like one foot is on the gas and the other is on the brake—on one hand you want to go forward fast and furious, but on the other hand you might be like, but do I though? Am I ready? Can I actually?

This is where the rubber meets the road. Are you still okay with watching from the sidelines, or are you finally ready to step into the ring? The choice is yours. Time will pass either way. It might be uncomfortable, but not much worth having comes from staying within your comfort zone.

My guess is you already know what to do. And oftentimes anxiety is what we feel when we find ourselves in the gap between knowing and doing.

If you’re feeling pulled towards something greater than yourself, into a version of you that you haven’t met yet, notice what comes up when you start to take action towards this vision. This is where good ol’ fight, flight, freeze, and fawn may sneak in to say hello. There’s nothing wrong with you, now is just the time where your body is working to catch up with your heart and your mind. The cosmic weather is encouraging us to build capacity to hold what’s about to be birthed, which happens slowly and not all at once—it can feel frustrating to not be where you want to be, but how about taking a look at how far you’ve already come?

The next new moon workshop is coming up! If you’d like space to untangle what’s going on within, join us under the new moon in Aries live on Zoom. We’ll spend the hour touching on what’s alive in you, while also noticing where the resistance is happening. My goal is for you to leave feeling some clarity and even a spark of motivation.
