It’s because of you that I get to continue to show up here, and the thought of that makes little me squeal with excitement. As a Libra moon, writing has always been my safe place since before I could even string words together (writing in gibberish was my jam). There was a time when you could find me in the basement click-clacking away on my dad’s old typewriter. I had diaries as a child, locked up tightly for only me to see—or anyone clever enough to get through the flimsy locks when I wasn’t looking. Needless to say I’ve been preparing for this since the early days.
I, too, have had the totally original dream of being a big time NYC writer (you know the one). I envisioned myself taking the subway to work in my badass power suit and high heels, taking the elevator to the top floor of a big shiny building, greeting my colleagues as I passed by them with my morning latte on the way to my cozy (?) cubicle; which would eventually turn into the corner office with a stunning view of the city through the big wrap around windows.
Clearly, that didn’t happen.
I haven’t even been to New York.
Instead, here I am sharing my thoughts on the internet, minus the high heels and office space. I’m happier in my comfy clothes in a place where I can look up at the night’s sky to see all my favourite planets and stars shining down on me, anyway.
For those who don’t know me, I’m Kaitlyn—former corporate right-hand woman to the CEO turned CEO of her own.
As a Pisces midheaven I’ve had a slew of careers that seemingly have nothing in common on the surface—flight attendant in the tundra, insurance agent, server/bartender, flight dispatcher, english teacher, au pair, human resources advisor, among others—though looking closer I can see they did have something in common.
They were all positions focused on supporting others, holding space, creating a sense of safety, and guiding people along their way.
These roles were preparing me for the one I hold today.
Seeing myself through the lens of my chart as a newly sober gal who spent decades cosplaying as someone who had her shit together, was life-changing to say the least.
I was able to untangle the perfectionist parts inside of me and learn how to honour my sensitivity as the gift that it is, while giving my body space to feel, after spending decades of trying to numb it all out. I spent so much time trying to “fit in,” until I realised I was never meant to be the same as anyone else.
What a relief!
Those moments put me on this path where I now get to help other people fall in love with themselves too, and I truly believe it’s my life’s most meaningful work.
From a young age I knew I would be leaving my small town of 1500 peeps asap—I even told my high school boyfriend to prepare his goodbyes for the day I graduated high school (classic Leo dramatics), because sorry bro but this world is too big for me to stay here (little did I know my north node in Sagittarius would never allow me to stay in that cage, this birdy was meant to fly).
Since leaving my hometown I’ve moved throughout Canada, into and then failed out of University, to corporate life way far up to the land of the midnight sun and -50°C dark winters under the dancing aurora, across the globe to Australia after the greatest heartbreak of my life, to then end up in Thailand where I’ve been living ever since.
Safe to say I love a challenge.
It’s only natural that people find me when they’re moving through their own transitions—whether it be leaving their soul sucking job to move into entrepreneurship or something more aligned, going through breakups/divorces/losing a spouse, breaking up with alcohol and other addictive substances, or even those whose lives look good on paper but they still feel like something isn’t quite right—and I’m grateful I get to hold space in those pivotal moments.
While it can be hard to move through transitions and the identity shifts that come with them, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m the type of person who lives for the plot, though as I get older I find myself reaching for roots and intentionality without losing the spark of passion.
Each transition allows me to shed what is no longer, so I can fully step into the next iteration of me.
Even though I’m an astrologer, I’m not entirely sure what the future will look like, but for now it means going all in on what I love (my business, my hobbies, and myself) while living in Thailand with my dog Lady.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from the transitions that have come before, is that it’s always worth following the little spark in my gut, and today that spark in my gut told me to reconnect with you!
With all that being said, I’d love to hear more about you in the comments so I can get a sense of who is here with me. I want to get to know you!
who are you?
where are you from/located now?
what’s your big 3 (if you know)?
what’s feeling current in your life (wins/challenges/transitions/desires)?
anything that’s on your heart!
