📚 Finished reading: Blueberry Chihuahua Pearl by Jean Michel Charlier and Moebius. I picked this up in Dubai 8 or 9 years ago in a used bookstore, never been read, until now. It’s a dense western but I really enjoyed this. Sadly finding other instalments isn’t going to be easy with some of these books going upwards of $100 each (apparently they had a 6000 print run, back in the 80s).
Tangerine sorbet. Summertime in a cup.
Why should I fear death? If I am, then death is not. If Death is, then I am not. Why should I fear that which can only exist when I do not? — Epicurus
🍳 First day of holiday. Weather was crap, but hey at least I’m not broken, so that’s a plus. Didn’t get dinner sorted, but got a bunch of little things done and midnight banana bread.
NEO is a new writing app developed by Hugh Howey, of Silo fame. I’ve only spent a few minutes with this app, but I really like what I’m seeing. Maybe because it is very opinionated software for writing novels that makes this feels different? Either way I certainly intend to kick the tires and see whether or not I can get more traction across both books I’m writing, Phoenixes and Colours .
The Obama Tan Suit . I hate the fact that Obama continued to support the Israelis and wasn’t different in this regard, but man do I miss the guy. Naturally funny and a great orator. This was on point.
📚 Finished reading: Notes on Being a Man by Scott Galloway. Took me a while to finish this one (for several months now I couldn’t bring myself to read anything, likely depressed about what is going on in the Middle East). The lessons are only intended for myself as I share them (or versions of them) with Zane and Ryan.
One of the things I am actually pretty thankful for during my summer break is not needing to think about what to wear. Shorts. T-shirts. Ankle socks. White sneakers. Watch. Any combination will do. Rinse and repeat.
FIFA Executives Were Given Ultimatum to Approve World Cup Privatization Plan . Filthy. Rats.
🍿Finished watching: Ted Lasso S4E1, Home . It’s good to have Ted Lasso back! Super annoyed that I can’t binge, but honestly that might actually be a good thing. Having gulped The Bear in a sitting this weekly dose might be a good thing.
📚 Finished reading: The Big Fat Kill by Frank Miller. The second chapter takes me back to when I was a teenager. I still have that issue somewhere. It was my introduction to Frank Miller, and eventually led me to follow him on 300.
‘Please Use AI’ . Via Daring Fireball . This was worth the read and a beautiful reminder of our humanity
🍿 Finished watching: The Four Seasons . Such a great show. The COVID episode hit so hard. Great writing and delivered so well. Really happy it’s gotten renewed for another season.
🚲 Now I get it just worked out Ryan and I cycled 12km today. No wonder I am aching all over. Meanwhile the 8½ year old isn’t feeling a god damn thing.
The colours are amazing on this guy.
Hello Toronto!
Total Copenhagen vibes.
It’s a bit annoying that the most amazing bike path, only 10min away is a little on the dangerous side to bike to in the city, but this is how we roll.
As I’ve grown older I have really begun to embrace series that limit themselves to 8 episodes at 30minutes each. The whole season is like watching one big movie into bite sized chunks.
The reduction process has begun. The first part was that ridiculous basement. So much crap. The main pieces are sorted. Now the difficult process of removing items that may potentially have an emotional element to them - it’s sometimes a delicate balance. Then after the basement, the ground level will get sorted (including the kitchen) and then finally clothes. So much clothes.
In addition to being a Chartered Engineer (CEng), I am now also a Professional Engineer (PEng) registered in Ontario. This journey took 4 years to sort out - so for those hoping to do it faster be warned, it’s a lengthy process.
🍿 Finished watching: Hoppers . This was excellent. Especially powerful for our family with the split of animal lovers and engineering/robotics.
Unreleased Footage of Senator Graham on his delusional assessment of Trump and Bibi . Good riddance to bad garbage.
Absolutely love this post by Massy Books in Vancouver. …we’re especially not a space for genocide apologists, or people who think there are “two sides” on the topic of Palestine and Israel. If you think you deserve a “homeland” that has been built off stolen land and murdered Palestinians, this is not a store for you. It was not right back then, and it certainly is…
