CLASSIFIED: Man Seeking Rival (Serious Inquiries Only)

ISO: One (1) Rival (26-40 M or F)

Location: Flexible - willing to meet 1-2x/year to catch up

Hello, 30 M here. I am someone with many ideas, hobbies, and interests.

I've been doing pottery and jiu jitsu since 2018. Been a blue belt since 2020, mostly training in 2-3 hours a day, most of the white belt boys I started with are purple now. I am an amateur free diver and starting to learn to spearfish, hoping to swim with orcas this or next year as well as pass 40m depths.

I run my own consulting and course business, made some good money last year but would be open to making less if it meant more free time to live an interesting life, date around, cook some more meals etc.

Let me be clear - I'm not seeking an antagonist. The difference matters. An antagonist opposes you, tries to stop your progress, becomes the villain in your story. A rival, though? A rival walks a parallel path. They challenge you not by blocking your way, but by showing you what else is possible.

Throughout my life, I've redefined what it means to be ambitious. It's no longer about traditional metrics - I want to experience more, try more, meet more people, learn endlessly. But after 30 years of intrinsic motivation, and before the weight of fatherhood and family settles in, I'd like to be inspired by another force.

I'm not looking for a best friend, or a mentor, or some competitor. I think I'm looking for someone to spend a weekend with once or twice a year to catch up on how much we've grown.

I wouldn't mind being handed a side quest from you, or being asked to be an accomplice to some two-party mission you're on. Need someone to climb a mountain with? Give me a 6-week camp.

For me, I'm looking to:

  1. Free dive with the orcas

  2. Spearfish tuna and make my own sashimi on the boat

  3. Climb a mountain

  4. Spend more time doing pottery and making out

  5. Develop my writing

  6. Develop my business

But honestly, I'm feeling a little uninspired. I grew up with nothing, so even my big dreams aren't that big anymore. In some ways, I'm also looking for a role model for what is possible.

The truth is, hitting goals and milestones isn't doing it for me anymore. I haven't felt truly challenged in a long time. Making more money or squatting more weight - it's not enough. These metrics and KPIs feel hollow. What I need isn't another number to chase, but a person who embodies the possibility of more.

Knowing someone else like me exists would be enough to be exciting - someone to be in a room with. I want to witness a growth as vibrant and exhilarating as my own. I want to see someone on a parallel path.

We don't need to climb the same mountain. I'm not looking for a partner to keep me accountable. But someone to keep me excited, and maybe from time to time when our paths align, to be available to go on an adventure.

This is about more than finding a rival - it's about making the story of my life more compelling. Making our individual struggles more meaningful, our separate successes more satisfying. There's something deeply human about wanting your story to be witnessed and challenged by someone who truly understands the scope of what you're attempting.

Maybe I'm looking for someone whose critique matters to me. One to critique the performance art that is my entire life. I want that mutual respect underneath some extrinsic competitive motivations - pushing for excellence, for iron to sharpen iron, something to evolve into a deep respect and admiration when we grow old.

After all, isn't that what we're all searching for? Not just achievement, not just a rival, but a witness to the art of becoming.

Serious inquiries only.

Include in your email the things you've been up to and why we haven't crossed paths yet.
