Issue 513: OTIS Club Newsletter Thing

Hope you had a happy Easter, OTIS Club! I spent mine on a plane traveling back from Los Angeles (and in fact I wrote most of this newsletter in the air…in between episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm, which long ago became my airplane show).

I had a great time in Los Angeles. Shot a few episodes of the Dan Aykroyd show (which will come out later this year on Hulu and the History channel) and then saw some oddities, including the room at UCLA where Ray Bradbury wrote Fahrenheit 451, the campus café they named after the book, the graveyard where he’s buried along with about two dozen other celebrities—from Marilynne Monroe to Truman Capote. I also ate at the café from the opening scene of Reservoir Dogs, saw the house from E.T. and the Marty McFly house from Back to the Future (see next section), as well as the site in Terminator 2 where the semi crashes into the cement river channel. That’s basically my last few L.A. trips: Ray Bradbury sites and filming locations. I’ll dig into some of these oddities later (as well as some of the ones from my New York/New Jersey trip from a couple weeks ago).
