I keep on wondering why the podcast pundits that so many people watch waste their time — and yours — explaining at length how crazy White House announcements -- or the contradictions of NATO policy and the insanity Of Zelensky’s funny farm antics have a kind of logic.
As if we didn’t all know it’s just crazy.
If I have to read or listen to someone referencing multiple articles from the Financial Times or Washington Post or New York Times, as if there as method in the madness, rather than madness in the method, I think I will throw up.
Why focus not on all the rumors and gossip of what is not really happening in Washington or Kiev or London or wherever as though it meant something?
Is it not better to look beyond at the facts, what we know for sure and ascertain the direction we are heading. It is not just a matter of assessing what happens next week or next month or even this year. But what will happen next year and the year after and the year after that.
The Long View matters. The Big Picture.
The Trump administration’s plan to crush Iran’s economy will likely negate the need for the U.S. to wage further military operations, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told CNBC.
President Donald Trump said the U.S. will choke Iran’s economy by levying major economic penalties against any country that provides “any type of lifeline” to Tehran.
“This is going to be the greatest coordinated economic isolation in the history of the world,” Bessent said.
Bessent says U.S. likely won’t restart large-scale Iran combat as it steps up economic pressure.
A lot of podcasters are talking about the D Day thing, leveraging Hollywood.
Pissing against the wind?
I guess Trump saw the movie.
But the Russians won the war.
And if this is a reenactment of D-Day, the US is playing the part of the Germans.
In any case, this is metaphor is silly for a strategy that is not a strategy and for desperation disguised as determination. You don’t have to be Mearsheimer or Sachs to figure that out.
Turkey was once the Sick Man of Europe. Then, of course, the UK. Then Germany. Now the US is the Sick Man of the World.
It is an empire on a slippery slope, down, down, down—geriatric. delusional but rich — although really living off other people
It is a pathocracy.
It’s leaders lead nowhere they are in it for personal profit — as with this Economic D-Day, which is intended to jolt the markets so Trump and his family will profit . As I said in my last two articles about pathocracies, political psychopaths don’t care about countries or governments or people, just about profit and loss.
Donald is indeed winning—as he always says —financially. But who is losing? You are if you live in the US or one of its vassal states.
Yes, the US is big and powerful. So the harder it will fall. And it has been at war with somebody for most of its history. Let’s just say — a long war on the world.

The Chinese managed to go centuries without war. But they weren’t trying to conquer the world.
That said, the more powerful the country, the longer its defeat takes and the more devastating when it arrives. In the end it defeats itself.
It seems likely that that when America’s political Armageddon arrives finally, not tomorrow or next year, but much further down the road, it will be catastrophic followed by a wasting death for the Republic, which had (almost) become an Empire.
The Four Horsemen have arrived.
Add to this:
Extreme Inequality: concentration of wealth among a tiny percentage of American elites, squeezing the middle and lower classes.
Environmental Degradation: Climate change and resource depletion driven by the pursuit of endless quarterly growth.
Financialization & Debt: An economy increasingly reliant on speculative asset bubbles and massive consumer, corporate, and sovereign debt.
Technological Disruption: Automation and AI threatening mass labor displacement without adequate social safety nets and depleting energy resources and economic viability.
The US cannot survive in its present form, with its present constitution. Jefferson was right about the need to get a new constitution every few generations.
People will probably date the time of collapse from Trump’s reign— but it began in the l8th Century.
It doesn’t matter who replaces Trump—it is the SYSTEM that must change.
Think about how much better the world would be without “America”.
