. . . Lindsay, Lindsay, Lindsay. The person to whom this book is dedicated, Lindsay Larson, is definitely a person among the living. In fact, Lindsay lives more than you and I or anyone we’ve ever met. She lives more life in a day than most will live in their entire lifetime––not to mention all the dying she does. You see, we were both very alive in those days—even in times where certain death was all around us, in one way or another, we were living—we were alive. Where blood is warm, smells of iron, and its sound is like the note of a cello sustained infinitely—there we were. The visions were brighter than you could have ever imagined. Everything was filthy. You see, the truly free can give their freedoms away because the truly free don’t need them. Lindsay is truly free. So mad with gusto, so magnetic—she shimmers. So bright and so hot she could flare up in a big burst that could swallow you whole right where you stood. Lindsay looks out towards the horizon and drags the planets around like pendants on a chain, giving the frozen cosmos a run for its money. Lindsay was like a thousand bottles of champagne popping at once. Lindsay is a person who overshadows life itself, and it is through the following experience that I have seen my reflection in greater relief. I find that it is a complex one and one that I am still desperately seeking to understand. And so, through this work, through my eyes, ears, and exhausted feelings, I aim to lay it all out. To not only inspect and document its source, but to liberate myself from it.
