I know it’s hard to think that your writing is good.
Your finger hesitates over the Publish button.
You know there’s a misspelled word.
A clunky sentence.
Something you’ve missed in your 80 edits.
But it doesn’t have to be perfect.
Let it be rough.
Be as perfect as you can get it.
But don’t let it sit in your saved list.
Something I’ve learned from my own writing on here is that some of my posts and Notes were not as good as they could ultimately be. I knew there were things I didn’t know how to fix, things a professional editor might have caught.
But I decided to push Publish anyway, and to my surprise, the work I thought was my worst often performed the best.
What?!?!?!?
So take heart. Take that post that is ready enough, even if it isn’t completely ready, and publish it to the world.
This post is one of those posts that I have had sitting in my saved list.
I decided to take my own advice and publish it to the dragons and ravens and the remaining few raccoons that skitter around on Substack.
