The key to content, law firm growth

As promised, back on the more consistent substack grind.

Even though things with business and my family life are busy (19 month old starting daycare, baby #2 on the way), I’ve gone back to my classic cure for ensuring content creation consistency:

Schedule it.

It’s the only way I’ve been able to remain consistent with content creation over the years, on any platform (and has helped me get to over 20k followers on LinkedIn, 56k on Tiktok, etc.).

I think the biggest reason for this in content creation specifically is because for most of us, content creation isn’t an urgent, “has to be done” type of thing. We know the benefits, we know we need to do it to build a valuable following online, we know 2 posts per month aren’t going to cut it.

But when the day gets busy, when that big client calls, when the week feels too stressful, it’s the easiest thing to push down/off the to do list. So it suffers and never really gets off the ground.

For most people…

However, if you’re like me and have the goal of prioritizing your personal brand because you know the value it brings, especially in a world where products/services are becoming more commoditized, you find a way to make it work.

And for me, it has to be in my calendar in order for it to get done.

Now in my case, over time, the calendar has changed plenty. For example, I used to have a scheduled work session every Sunday early afternoon to catch up on admin work, write my Substack post, etc. Then I had a kid who learned how to walk, and now my weekends consist of following her around the house/park/(insert location here) until she either 1) naps, 2) goes to bed or 3) runs out of energy.

Note: #3 never happens, I don’t understand how…

Anyway, my calendar had to shift.

So now, I do my daily weekday content to-do’s first thing in the morning (Tiktok/Youtube Shorts video, LinkedIn post) and I write this post on Sunday night. It’s quite literally in my calendar for Sunday at 7:45pm (because after spending an entire weekend chasing around my daughter - who I love dearly, by the way - God knows I’m not going anywhere Sunday night).

Anyway, not sure who needed to read this, but if you’ve been slacking on the content side, schedule it!!!

On the business side, my law firm is growing at a pretty exciting pace right now as we continue to expand our immigration practice and because of the tech, AI and systems we’ve been able to streamline, are looking to expand to other areas of law as well.

If you happen to know any Canadian (ideally Ontario) lawyers who would be interested in a tech/AI-first law firm, bored of their current 9-5 (does 9-5 exist in law?), and especially any with experience in family, employment or tax law, please let me know!

Have a great day,
