Inspired by TSR Episode 475:
I’ll admit it: I got so annoyed with the Iran story that I mostly stopped covering it. Every day it was the same whiplash. We have a deal. We don’t have a deal. They broke the deal. Now we need another deal. At some point you have to admit you can’t keep negotiating with people who keep lying to you.
But the Strait of Hormuz story is harder to tune out. Iran has gained an incredible amount of control over a waterway that much of the world depends on for oil. Gulf states apparently see Iranian oversight as the least damaging option because open conflict could wreck their energy infrastructure. Iran can pressure them through shipping, ports, pipelines, and the threat of another attack.
