This was a fun thought experiment about how a community might intentionally build its culture from the ground up - which seems to start with education or community centers. In this case, we imagined a training program for the Cadets of Swarm Academy - an education center.
In reality, if we’re ever going to put our money in the middle with other people - which we want to do - we have to trust one another enough to pool resources. Those high-trust qualities don’t appear by accident. They can be learned, practiced, and reinforced through a training program, and should be practiced on a very high-trust transparent system that the people agree to.
Swarm Academy is built around exploring this idea. Imagine a training ground where people learn how to think independently, collaborate effectively, disagree productively, earn trust, and contribute to groups without falling into ego, manipulation, or groupthink.
Only after trust has been earned do higher levels of cooperation become possible. Teams can take bigger risks together. Communities can build ambitious projects. Businesses can form. Capital can be pooled. PMAs can be started. Networks can become remarkably resilient because they are built on real trust - not blind faith, but trust. Trust based on previous iterations. Trust like the Navy SEALS have. Trust built from experiences together. We did Hell Week together. We completed a dangerous mission together. We built a business together already. We lent money to each other already. Etc. Etc.
History suggests that high-trust groups consistently outperform low-trust ones. If that’s true, then learning how to become a teammate - a good “wingman” - may be one of the highest-return skills any of us can develop. Not esoterically, but rather in a real and measurable way.
This “flight manual” is simply a playful way of imagining what that training might look like, and how it might read.
Excerpt from the Swarm Academy Flight Manual Handbook:
Welcome Swarm Academy Cadets! You have chosen to study a skill that few people even realize exists: the ability to think, decide, and act as part of a high-functioning high-trust group called a human swarm.
As you will see in this guide, human collective intelligence and creativity are best amplified when we properly form into human swarms. The new intelligence that emerges is a very powerful force, and you will soon understand why. So, as humanity, we have a duty to understand how to safely use it - both as individual participants, and as a swarm. We also have a duty to use the best systems possible to prevent corruption and to get results.
This handbook will equip you with the knowledge, principles, and good explanations required to form these types of high-trust groups with other people - including ones that pool money and resources at large scale. It will also teach you how to connect your circle to other high trust circles and form powerful networks. You will learn how to harness collective intelligence, avoid groupthink, build high-trust networks, create new knowledge, and build systems that are resilient, transparent, and difficult to corrupt.
The first rule of forming a swarm is protecting the individuals that make it up. So this training begins with you, the individual. Before you can participate in a powerful swarm, you must understand the behaviors, responsibilities, and code of conduct that allow a swarm to thrive, and what causes them to fail.
Just as you would not fly a plane or operate a nuclear reactor without good systems and training in place, the same is true with forming swarms - especially if we decide to pool money.
By the time you finish this training, you will possess a new valuable skill for humanity, and have an understanding of how you can be useful in fixing all of the systems around you. Once you complete this training, you will receive your “wings.” If you should so choose to continue your journey after you graduate with us, you will then be invited to our network of communities to help us solve a problem together in the real world as a test run to build trust together. Simply put, if you would like to be part of our high-trust network, and get the benefits of belonging here, it starts with completing this training first. Good luck cadet, in earning your wings. For your second mission please watch this video:
Congratulations Cadet, if you’ve completed your first two missions, send us a message to receive the next one - if you’d like.

That’s how a voluntary society would work. We would build trust through iterations of vulnerability.
We build the culture first. Then the system for us to solve problems on.
