Aloha fellow Problem Solvers,
If history teaches us anything, it is that the people who shape the future rarely do so alone. They organize. They build institutions. They assemble teams who work together to solve problems and advance a shared vision.
Governments and Corporations have think tanks on K Street, or nefarious organizations like the World Economic Forum as well. They understand a simple concept: groups that learn and coordinate effectively are far more powerful than individuals acting alone.
The question is whose vision of the future are these think tanks working to create?
Hopefully most of our readers disagree with the ideas promoted by Klaus Schwab and the World Economic Forum, but one thing is undeniable - they have a clear vision. They think strategically. They spend years discussing the world they hope to build, then organize to move in that direction. As Schwab stated during an interview on Chinese state television:
“We have to have a strategic mood. We have to construct the world of tomorrow. It’s a systematic transformation of the world. So we have to define how the world should look like, which we want to come out of this transformation period.”
The point isn’t simply to criticize his vision. The point is to recognize that he understands something many of us have forgotten: if you want to shape the future, you must first imagine it. Every civilization is built twice - first in the mind, then in reality. The people willing to think ahead and work together are often the ones who determine where society eventually goes. and right now that is only the centralized and corrupted institutions doing this well.
That could be us, as people, doing it on our own instead. In fact it should be. Because if we do not define the future we want, someone else - like Klaus and his minions - will define it for us.
That is why we need a People’s Think Tank. Or several.
We need an open, transparent network where people can collaborate on society’s biggest problems using the best science we have available for improving group decision-making.
If you have been paying attention, of course, we believe our secret weapon is collective swarm intelligence.
We need a trustworthy digital platform (maybe like this ONE) that allows highly aligned communities to organize around real-world missions. The platform must be open source so anyone can inspect how it works. It must be transparent so hidden manipulation becomes difficult. It must build trust between strangers through verifiable reputation systems, much like eBay and Amazon transformed commerce by allowing people who had never met to confidently transact with one another. Most importantly, it must be designed to maximize collective intelligence instead of engagement, outrage, or profit.
The underlying crisis facing modern civilization is not simply political corruption. It is systems corruption everywhere. Rather than endlessly debating which ideology is correct, we should be asking a better question: what systems consistently produce the best outcomes for humanity?
A People’s Think Tank could be an attempt to answer that question.
The future will belong to those who collaborate most effectively. The only remaining question is whether ordinary people will build the institutions needed to shape that future themselves - or leave it to those who don’t have our best intentions in mind. Thanks for reading!
