John C. A. Manley released his latest book All the Humans are Sleeping, and I had the pleasure of painting the cover art for it (the oil painting above).
The dystopian novel is extensively researched with considerable attention to detail, but all that is kept in the background and supports the brisk plot. The story is immersive on multiple levels.
Manley’s dystopia hits closer to the mark than say Matrix, because in Manley’s novel there is no need to have rogue machines turning against humans — humans are perfectly capable of turning the machines against humans/themselves.
