The three unwise monkeys

Forest fires, houses burnt to the ground, train derailments, three or is it four heatwaves, hose pipe bans and a Government warning on using BBQs, fireworks and the rest; but be calm because it is nothing to do with climate change.

You see the fires were lit by human beings, so nothing to do with global warming, seriously this is the line of “reasoning” of the climate deniers, if you can dignify such denial with thinking.

And all of this is in the UK, the green and pleasant land, without continental style summers or winters. Our weather is a byword for wet, damp, inconsistent, unreliable and our countryside therefore lush and verdant. Certainly when I have returned from trips abroad I have, in the past, always been struck by how green everything is here.

Not any longer, at least not in the south of England and still the deniers continue to deny. Surely just looking out the window should be enough but they are taking the opportunity of this long hot summer to push for more oil pumping.

We are lucky we have a Labour government, Tory or Reform administrations would be telling us to stop moaning and have another ice cream. Which just goes to show how far the political landscape has been changed by, I am afraid to say it, Brexit.

Remember Cameron was “vote blue get green”, but since his fall from power we have had other things to concentrate on, and the Tory party has driven out any and all serious green policies and their supporters. Reform is and always has been a firm climate denier and even openly mocks those who know what is happening.

If you want to see the future if they get into power just look at America. Climate denial goes hand in hand with vaccine madness, leprosy in Florida, outbreaks of food poisoning, polio returning, “drill baby drill”, the exploitation of national parks previously safeguarded resources, fracking, a president who thinks he is an expert on naval engineering, and an anti-evidence and anti-science zeitgeist.

We can have all that here too, just deny the evidence of your own eyes, speak about your own pet theories and vote for whoever tells you what you want to hear.

The three unwise monkeys are a real threat and they could easily come to the UK soon.
